Randy JamesToronto based graphic designer Randy James has been in business as Active Graphics for over 20 years. Providing print layout, illustration and web development for multiple clientele. Including Sysco, BMW Motorrad, The University of Toronto, Harvard COOP, i3 Inc., and The Down Syndrome Association of Toronto to name a few.

Specializing in print layout, logos, and web site design, Randy also works as an illustrator and fine artist creating water colours for commissions as well as for print.

Randy started his career as a teenager working at a graphic design firm in Burlington Ontario through a government grant program and was quickly swept up into the calling. Computers eventually replaced traditional setup methods and Randy welcomed the new technologies and was able to thrive in the multi-platform environments of MAC and PC. Moving to Toronto in the early 90’s, Randy became the art director in a stamp and label company and eventually branched out on his own using the experiences he gained from his years at graphic companies and courses at Mohawk and Humber colleges for Communication Arts. He has never looked back.

The graphics and media industry is forever evolving and Randy has done his part to learn and adapt with it. Being a person with multiple disciplines at his creative core, he is able to work in print, scripting and development, and in multimedia projects such as game design, teaser videos and interactive web site integration. Randy works with many of the latest technologies including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and DreamWeaver as well as scripting in PHP, jQuery and Javascript.

Painting and music are also sincere passions for Randy and he has pursued them with equal vigour. From his work as a drummer and songwriter to his work as a fine artist, working on commission and now opening an ETSY store to begin selling his art.
